About Me

There are a million grand stories waiting to be told, and I think a few of them are mine. I am experienced in the traditional arts concentrating in oil painting, graphite drawing, and painting on shoes. My talents extend to digital photography, design, and illustration, and my newest endeavor is animation.

Module 4 Sketches

Spectrum

http://www.spectrumfantasticart.com/entryinfo.php

My submission entails artwork for the cover of a book. I like this contest because there are few restrictions. A lot of the guidelines were focused on the submission part of the contest.

I chose to base this artwork off of a mini story idea I came up with. It is a fantasy story about a girl, Kaphrus, who, unbeknownst to herself and her fellow villagers, is the chosen one. She is an independent adventure going girl. A long time ago there was an evil powerful creature who took over and destroyed all of the worlds in the realm. A group of 4 individuals managed to capture him and ban him into a containment spell. Another evil individual managed to find and free this contained evil. It is now up to Kaphrus to find the hidden scrolls that contain the chants to put this evil creature away, once and for all.

I want the focus to be on the female character. She is bold, strong, and confident. There is no damsel in distress here.

Module 3: Final Web design

Candy

While I was researching website designs I noticed a lot of rectangles and straightforward layouts. I wanted to create a not so traditional web page layout for a portfolio because it should showcase a unique and talented artist. Colors are a key component. The visual aesthetic draws a person in.  Easy accessibility and navigating around a site is also an important factor.  Sometimes highlighting the word of the chosen section can be lost. By bolding the words of the section a person is presently viewing, aids in a person knowing what they clicked on. I utilized Flash for the main page font animation, Illustrator for the graphic art on the main page, and Photoshop for the rest.

Module 3: Website Sketches

Candy

As an artist I try to be different. I know websites follow a traditional format, but I don't want traditional. I like the unique. Some of my designs reflect the standard website appearance, while some are different.

I focused a lot of my efforts on the color scheme and ease of a page. These two things attract and hold a person's attention to a site.

I found this to be a little challenging because I was building this site as a portfolio and service site for my talents, and I hope to one day figure out Dreamweaver and create this layout. I am a multi-faceted artist with a lot to offer. I found the challenge in trying to create a clean and attractive site to express everything I do. I tried to crunch things together and categorize, but this may not be the best way to go about it. I have considered separating the photography from the traditional art into different websites, but I think this takes away from me as an artist.

Some of the images are my own and some I found through Google search to fill the space.

Module 2: Logo Final

EmpireX

"The newest revolution in the online gaming industry"

- PC Gamer Magazie

When I first saw the title of the company, I immediately envisioned Roman type font and associated role-playing games with this company. The company, EmpireX, needed to be represented as big and bold. I went through a friends collection to get a feel of video game logos. A lot of them were represented by the title itself. Once in awhile I saw a symbolic object or symbol included as a letter or within the logo.

My approach to creating the two games within the company started off with coming up with titles. My titles needed to have a ring to them and mysterious enough to have the viewer want to play them. Ultimately I came up with "Ace of Spades" and " Keys to the Kingdom". "AOS" is a mystical-realism game where the main character gains certain magical powers and weapons along their journey to defeat the terrors they encounter and rescues those in need. The character comes from a prophecy that names them a "Spade" ( like the equivalence of savior)  who needs to find the main evil behind the destruction of the worlds- human and creature.
"Keys" is my rendition of Disney's "Kingdom Hearts" game. In my version the main character is on a mission to collect five keys to five special doors that is holding each of the fairies captive. Without these fairies, nature and the seasons are unable to function and flourish.
